Meet our new Subject Editor, Alexandra Rodríguez
28 April 2020
Web Ecology has appointed Dr. Alexandra Rodríguez as a new Subject Editor. Dr. Rodríguez, also known as Xandra, is a researcher at the Centre for Functional Ecology of the University of Coimbra, in Portugal. She has previously developed her work at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in the USA, and at the Pablo de Olavide University in Spain.
Xandra is an ecosystem ecologist with more than 15 years of experience in biogeochemistry, ecosystem functioning, plant–microbe–soil interactions, and global change. Currently her main research focuses are on the effects of forest die-off on soil microbial communities; on the functioning, control, and response to realistic climate change scenarios of ecosystem processes related to C and N cycling; and on the effects of projected changes in climate due to variations in the soil–atmosphere gas exchange.
Anecdotally, Xandra's first article was published by Web Ecology in 2007, with the title "Influence of legumes on N cycling in a heathland in northwest Spain". As always, Web Ecology is free to read and free to publish, as it has been for the past 20 years of its existence, thanks to the sponsorship of the European Ecological Federation.
